Kolkata, March 1 -- With the publication of the first phase of the final electoral roll on Saturday, preparations for the West Bengal Assembly elections have formally begun, even as the election schedule is yet to be announced.
The Election Commission of India has decided to step up its engagement with the state administration and security agencies to review the overall poll preparedness.
Soon after the partial final list was released, the Commission initiated a series of meetings to assess the election environment in the state.
Sources in the CEO office said that on Monday, March 2, the Commission will hold a detailed review meeting to take stock of the ground situation ahead of the polls.
