New Chandigarh, April 29 -- Last season's runners-up Punjab Kings saw their unbeaten run in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 come to an end on Tuesday after Rajasthan Royals chased down a record total here, handing the table-toppers their first defeat of the season.

It was also the first time this season that Punjab fielded a different playing combination, and the change did not produce the desired result. Despite posting a strong total, their bowling unit failed to defend it, continuing a trend of inconsistency on batting-friendly surfaces.
