Shimla, Jan. 23 -- A strong western disturbance, supported by an induced cyclonic circulation over north Pakistan, has sharply intensified winter conditions across Himachal Pradesh, paralysing normal life and bringing much-needed precipitation after a prolonged dry spell of nearly three months.
Widespread snowfall, rainfall, thunderstorms and strong winds were recorded during the past 24 hours, with the maximum impact witnessed in the capital region and adjoining mid and higher hill areas.
According to the Meteorological Centre, Shimla, heavy snowfall occurred in the higher reaches as Kothi (15 cm) snowfall, Gondla (12 cm), Kukumseri (6.8 cm), Jot (6 cm), Saloni (5 cm), Manali (4.8 cm), followed by Keylong, Kufri and Bharmaur (4 cm each) ...
