Kolkata, Dec. 19 -- A fresh confrontation has erupted between the West Bengal government and the office of the Chief Electoral Officer over the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, with education minister Bratya Basu on Friday alleging that the conduct of the Madhyamik examinations could be disrupted as a large number of teachers have been engaged by the poll body as Booth Level Officers.

"The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education has sent a letter to the commission urging to exempt the teachers from SIR because of the Madhyamik examination.
