Kolkata, Feb. 15 -- A Booth Level Officer (BLO) was allegedly assaulted in West Bengal's Kaliganj on Sunday after he pointed out a data inconsistency in electoral records during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter rolls.
The incident, which has sparked wide range of concern over the safety of government officials on duty, took place in Ashachia village under Kaliganj block in Nadia district.
The injured official identified as Ali Saheb, the BLO of booth number 80/225 in Ashachia village sustained serious head injuries and required seven stitches following the attack.
