New Delhi, Aug. 14 -- Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood today accused the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government of negligence, alleging that poor urban planning led to severe waterlogging in six government schools in Nithari.

The issue, which has persisted since 2020, has forced around 14,214 students to study in knee-deep water during monsoon seasons, with classes frequently disrupted.

Sood claimed that the waterlogging crisis was caused by the concretisation of a nearby pond during the AAP's tenure, which disrupted natural drainage. An initial inspection suggested that the pond was filled under pressure from land mafia, and an investigation is underway to determine whether MLA funds were used for the project.
