Nashik, July 6 -- With the district having been receiving heavy rains for past few days, the water level of the Godavari river has increased significantly and the dams have been overflowing, as onlookers are flocking to Godaghat to see the flood water in the heavy rain. The water has risen up to the waist at the Dutondya Maruti idol, which is considered as the indicator of the flood level of Godavari. Due to heavy rains lashing in the area since yesterday (Saturday) morning, 3,716 cusecs of water were released from Gangapur dam. After that, the discharge of water was increased by 940 cusecs to a total of 4,656 at night.
