Hapur, July 28 -- In a late-night encounter, a most-wanted gangster was shot dead during an exchange of fire between police and armed criminals in the Simbhaoli area of Uttar Pradesh's Hapur district.

The coordinated action was carried out by the Noida Unit of the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (UP STF), in collaboration with Bihar Police and Hapur Police, in the early hours of July 28.

The gangster, identified as Dablu Yadav, a resident of Sahebpur Kamal in Bihar's Begusarai district, sustained a bullet injury in the chest during the encounter. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
