Banda, Dec. 27 -- Police have arrested a notorious criminal who had escaped from police custody 13 years ago, reviving discussion around the sensational jailbreak incident. The accused, carrying a reward of Rs 1 lakh, was arrested during an encounter by a joint team of the District SOG and Matoundh police station, police said on Saturday.

The accused, Sandeep Mishra (49), a resident of Khoh village in Chitrakoot district, was originally lodged in Banda Mandal Jail in 2012 in a murder case. On August 8, 2012, he was being taken along with 12 other prisoners for a court appearance in Chitrakoot.
