Agra, Sept. 8 -- A portion of the outer wall and roof of the historic Mahalaxmi Temple in Agra collapsed on Sunday evening, injuring several people and triggering chaos at the site. The temple, situated on the banks of the Yamuna River, is currently surrounded by floodwaters, which may have weakened the structure.
According to eyewitnesses and temple priests, the incident occurred around 7 PM when over 30 devotees were present in the temple premises. A section of the wall, along with about 3 feet of the roof, suddenly collapsed. Several people, who were standing near the wall, fell nearly 15 feet down towards the flooded riverbank.
