Shillong, Sept. 24 -- In a sudden political development in Meghalaya, senior Voice of the People Party (VPP) leader Shemborlang Rynjah today resigned as Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC).
Rynjah was elected as CEM after VPP's landslide victory in the KHADC election held in February, 2025.
"After careful consultation, I have come to the conclusion that due to my current health situation,it's in the best interest for both my well-being and the office that I decided to resign," Rynjah stated in his resignation letter.
KHADC Executive Member and VPP Spokesperson, Powell Sohkhlet, said that the party has accepted Rynjah's decision and wishes him good health.
