New Delhi, Sept. 9 -- Voting for the vice presidential election is currently underway at the new Parliament Building, witnessing participation from top political leaders across party lines. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the first to cast his vote as polling commenced at 10 am. The voting process will continue until 5 pm, followed by counting at 6 pm.

The election sees a direct contest between NDA nominee CP Radhakrishnan and INDIA bloc candidate former Supreme Court Judge B Sudarshan Reddy.

Among the prominent leaders who cast their votes were Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha, former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, union ministers Rajnath Singh, Kiren Rijiju, Pralhad Joshi, Nitin Gadkari and JP Nadda.
