Mumbai, Dec. 20 -- The voting process for the general elections of 288 municipal councils and nagar panchayats in Maharashtra has concluded, with vote counting scheduled to begin on Sunday at 10 am, Election officials said.
All necessary arrangements for counting have been completed, and political focus has now shifted to the outcome of these crucial local body polls.
According to the election schedule, polling for 263 municipal councils and nagar panchayats was conducted in the first phase on December 2, while voting in the remaining 23 local bodies took place on Saturday in the second phase. At several polling stations, voting continued until late evening as long queues persisted even after the official closing time.
