New Delhi, Sept. 9 -- Polling for the 15th Vice-Presidential election concluded today, marking the end of a closely watched contest between the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) nominee CP Radhakrishnan, currently the Governor of Maharashtra, and the Opposition INDIA bloc's candidate, Justice (Retd.) B Sudershan Reddy, a former judge of the Supreme Court.

Voting commenced at 10 am at Parliament House, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi casting the first ballot. Members of the two Houses of Parliament-Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha - formed the electoral college for the Vice Presidential poll, which is conducted through a secret ballot under the system of proportional representation by means of a single transferable vote.
