Thiruvananthapuram, Jan. 9 -- With the BJP intensifying its drive to secure the magic number of 51 seats in the Thiruvananthapuram City Corporation and ensure smooth governance without relying on outside support, the election in the Vizhinjam ward has assumed critical political significance.
Campaign activities have picked up momentum across the coastal ward as only three days remain for polling, turning Vizhinjam into the focal point of the Corporation's power struggle.
Although the BJP already enjoys the support of some independent councillors, which brings it close to a simple majority in the 101-member Corporation, the party is keen on winning Vizhinjam directly.
