Mumbai, March 18 -- Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde alleged on Monday that the violence in Nagpur was part of a larger conspiracy.

Speaking to reporters here, he said that nearly 50 suspected rioters have been taken into police custody so far while authorities have imposed curfew in several areas, including Pachpavali, Kotwali, Ganeshpeth, Shantinagar, Lakadganj, Sakkardara, Imamwada, Nandanvan, Kapilnagar and Yashodharanagar to prevent further unrest.

Shinde further said, "The Chief Minister (Devendra Fadnavis) is reviewing the situation. Police have said that many people came from outside. Petrol bombs were also hurled. It is unfortunate that the police were also attacked. Strict action will be taken in this incident. I ...
