Agartala, Oct. 24 -- At least 17 people, including Dhalai Superintendent of Police Mihir Lal Das and several senior government officials, were injured in overnight violence caused by a 24-hour Tripura bandh called by Tripura Civil Society, led by BJP's ally in the government, to press for introduction of Inner Line Permit (ILP), deportation of illegal Bangladeshi migrants, and execution of Tiprasa Accord.

The authorities rushed to deploy additional police force in trouble-torn localities under Selama block of Kamalpur under Tripura's Dhalai district where Section 163 of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) following clashes in Shantirbazar area.
