Shimla, Jan. 4 -- Villagers unanimously opposed the proposed Mountain Township Project at Jathiadevi during a public hearing on December 29, rejecting the land acquisition and criticising the government's Social Impact Assessment (SIA) report for overlooking grassroots realities, livelihoods, and social structures.
It underscored mounting resistance to large-scale urbanisation in rural Shimla and Solan districts, with residents warning that acquiring nearly 4,900 bighas of land could devastate sustainable farming and dairy-based livelihoods.
