Hyderabad, July 16 -- In a meaningful step to combat school dropouts among economically disadvantaged students, Vikram Goud, son of former Minister M Mukesh Goud, extended Rs 7 lakh in financial assistance to over 50 students from Below Poverty Line (BPL) families.

The aid, disbursed through his Sreshth Foundation at an event in the Goshamahal Assembly segment on Wednesday, covered academic fees for students ranging from school level to engineering courses.

Beneficiaries hailed from institutions like Midas High School, Vanitha Degree College, and Anwar ul Uloom, among others.

Highlighting the urgency, Goud pointed to the alarming dropout rate in Telangana, especially among girls, which is nearly double the national average.
