Chandigarh, July 28 -- In a swift reversal following public and bureaucratic backlash, the Haryana government has withdrawn the appointment of Vikas Barala, son of BJP Rajya Sabha MP and former Haryana BJP chief Subhash Barala, from the post of Assistant Advocate General (AAG).
Barala's name had appeared in the official list of AAG appointees released on July 18 by Additional Chief Secretary (Home and Justice), Sumita Mishra.
However, within days, his inclusion sparked a storm of protest due to his pending criminal case involving the alleged stalking and attempted abduction of a senior IAS officer's daughter in 2017.
