Bengaluru, April 21 -- A fresh political flashpoint erupted on Tuesday after Karnataka BJP President Vijayendra Yediyurappa launched a blistering attack on Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge over his alleged "terrorist" remark targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Seizing on the controversy, Vijayendra accused Kharge of dragging democratic discourse into the gutter and said the Congress had fallen back on abuse after a string of electoral defeats.

Kharge, however, has previously denied making any personal attack on the Prime Minister, maintaining that his criticism was aimed at the Modi government policies.
