Bengaluru, Oct. 6 -- The debate over a separate Veerashaiva-Lingayat religion resurfaced in Karnataka, with Karnataka Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Vijayendra Yediyurappa voicing strong opinions on the issue, while stressing the need to protect Hinduism and maintain societal unity.

Addressing reporters here today, Vijayendra highlighted that the demand for a separate Lingayat faith has once again captured public attention and is being widely discussed in the media. "Society is aware of who is actively involved in these discussions.
