Vijayendra faults Karnataka govt for dam crisis
Bengaluru, Aug. 18 -- Karnataka BJP president Vijayendra Yediyurappa today slammed the Karnataka government, warning that farmers who traditionally grow two crops per season may now have to settle for just one due to alleged mismanagement at Tungabhadra dam.
Speaking to media, Vijayendra said, "All our leaders had visited Tungabhadra dam last August after Crest Gate number 19 crashed. We demanded immediate action from the state government, which only resulted in a temporary arrangement."
He criticised the lack of followup, saying, "There has been no proper followup from the irrigation minister, the district in charge minister, or the state government. Almost all crest gates are now facing problems due to this negligence."
