Bengaluru, Sept. 8 -- Karnataka BJP president Vijayendra Yediyurappa today launched a sharp attack on Congress president and Rajya Sabha Opposition Leader Mallikarjun Kharge, alleging that he had insulted a young farmer who approached him in Kalaburagi seeking relief for crop loss.

According to Vijayendra, the incident took place yesterday when a farmer, distressed by damage to his tur dal crop, met Kharge to narrate his difficulties.

"Instead of showing sympathy, Kharge scolded him saying, 'Have you come here just to show me that your tur crop has failed?'," Vijayendra said in a statement.
