Thiruvananthapuram, Dec. 20 -- Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi raising serious concerns over the Employment Guarantee Amendment Bill, passed by Parliament as the Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Employment and Livelihood Mission (Grameen).
In his letter, Vijayan said several provisions of the proposed legislation "would adversely impact states, particularly in view of their limited financial resources."He highlighted that under the existing Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS), the Central government bears the entire wage component, whereas the new Bill proposes to reduce the Centre's share to 60 per cent.
