Mumbai, Sept. 19 -- Congress Legislature Party leader Vijay Wadettiwar has written to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis demanding that the state government declare a "wet drought" in parts of Maharashtra and provide urgent relief to farmers affected by the heavy rains in August and September.

According to Wadettiwar, 30 districts across Maharashtra have been hit by excessive rainfall, damaging crops on 17.85 lakh hectares.

With no loan waiver being implemented and widespread crop losses, farmers are facing severe distress, especially in Marathwada and Vidarbha regions where soybean, maize and cotton crops have been badly damaged.
