Vientiane, May 15 -- Health authorities in northern Laos' Xayaboury province have issued a warning about poisonous wild mushrooms after six deaths were reported, urging the public to stay vigilant and take preventive measures to avoid further fatalities.
According to a warning issued by the provincial health office on Tuesday, poisonous mushrooms have killed six people and sickened two others in the province since January 2025.
Victims experienced symptoms such as headaches, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea shortly after consuming wild mushrooms, the local news website Lao Phattana News reported on Thursday.
