Kochi, Oct. 31 -- Vice Admiral Sameer Saxena today took over as the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief (FOC-in-C), Southern Naval Command (SNC).
He succeeds Vice Admiral V. Srinivas, who superannuated after nearly four decades of distinguished service in the Indian Navy.
The change-of-command ceremony was held at the Naval Base in Kochi. Both officers paid homage to fallen heroes at the SNC War Memorial before the formal handover.
Commissioned into the Navy on July 1, 1989, Vice Admiral Saxena is a Navigation and Direction specialist and an alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla; Defence Services Staff College, Wellington; and the Naval War College, Newport, USA.
