Nagpur, Sept. 20 -- The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Saturday issued an advisory urging organisers of garba events in Maharashtra to restrict entry to Hindus only during the upcoming Navratri festival.
The guidelines recommend that participants' Aadhaar cards be verified, a traditional "tilak" be applied on their foreheads and a puja be performed before entering the venue.
The VHP stated that "garba" is a form of worship and not merely entertainment, and participation should be limited to those with faith in the rituals.
Members of the VHP and Bajrang Dal are expected to monitor events across the state to enforce the advisory.
