Chennai, Nov. 14 -- V. Sekhar, renowned Tamil film director known for his family-oriented and socially relevant films,passed away today evening after prolonged illness.

Sekhar who had been suffering from health complications, was admitted to a private hospital in suburban Porur, wherehe breathed his last.

Sekhar was widely recognized for directing popular films such as joint family-centric films like "Kaalam Maari Pochu","Viralukketha Veekkam", "Varavu Ettana Selavu Pathana", and "Naan Petha Magane".

His films often featured relatable middle-class family themes mixed with humor and social messages, earning him aspecial place among Tamil cinema audiences.
