Madrid, Dec. 30 -- La Liga struggler Real Oviedo on Tuesday announced that it was cutting short the loan deal for Venezuelan striker Salomon Rondon.
The 36-year-old was due to spend the entire season on loan at Oviedo from the Mexican side Pachuca (which shares the same ownership as the Spanish club), but will now return to Mexicoat the midpoint of the campaign.
Rondon played 16 times for Oviedo, scoring two goals, from the club's disappointing total of just seven all campaign.
The arrival of coach Guillermo Almada from Valladolid just before the Christmas break is clearly a key factor in the decision to return Rondon to Pachuca. Almada prefers pressuring high up the field and Rondon doesn't have the speed to do the job.
