Bhubaneswar, Feb. 28 -- Veteran Odia actor Uttam Mohanty, who dominated the Odia film industry for decades, passed away while undergoing treatment for liver cirrhosis at a private hospital in Gurugram late Thursday night.
He was 67.
Mohanty, a household name in Odisha, had an illustrious career in both Indian films and television, with over 135 Odia films to his credit. He had also acted in nearly 30 Bengali films.
Born in Baripada, Mohanty earned a Bachelor of Science degree. During his college days, he developed a strong inclination toward acting.
