Agartala, July 21 -- A pall of gloom descended across media community of Tripura following the demise of veteran journalist and publisher of the most circulated Bengali daily of Northeast - Dainik Sambad, Pradip Datta Bhowmik yesterday in AIIMS, New Delhi during treatment.
Datta Bhowmik was 72.
He is survived by his wife, son, and daughter.
The mortal remains were brought to Agartala today and cremated in Battala crematorium here.
Besides hundreds of journalists, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath, and several other ministers, leaders of different political parties, and intellectuals have paid tribute to him and joined the last rites.
