Chennai, April 9 -- Tens and hundreds of people bade a tearful adieu, as the mortal remains of veteran Congress leader and former TNCC President Kumari Ananthan was cremated on Wednesday evening with full State honours.

Mr Ananthan, 93, died at a private hospital early today, due to old age-related issues and his body was taken to the residence of his daughter and former Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan to enable the public to pay their homage.

After a host of leaders including Tamil Nadu Governor R N Ravi, Chief Minister M K Stalin and leaders of various political parties paid their last respects, the final journey of Mr Ananthan began from Tamilisai's Valasaravakkam and taken to Vadapalani crematorium where it was consigned t...
