Bhubaneswar, July 8 -- Veteran BJP leader Manmohan Samal was re-elected as the president of the Odisha BJP unit for the second consecutive term.

Samal was elected unanimously and unopposed, as he was the only candidate to file a nomination yesterday.

Party election observer Sanjay Jaiswal officially announced Samal's name today as the new state BJP president.

This marks Samal's fourth term as state president. He had earlier held the position in 1999-2000, 2000-2004, and March 2023.

Samal contested the 2024 Assembly election but was defeated by the BJD candidate.

He was elected to the Odisha Assembly in 2004 from the Dhamnagar constituency and later served as Minister of Revenue, Food Supplies, and Consumer Affairs in the BJD-BJP coalit...
