New Delhi, Aug. 5 -- Malayalam film actor Shanavas, Prem Nazir's son, passed away late Monday night at the age of 71, at a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram. He had been hospitalized hours before for kidney problems, as per hospital sources.

Born in Thiruvananthapuram, Shanavas entered acting with the 1981 movie Premageethangal, which was directed by Balachandra Menon. Though he inherited film legacy, he created an independent career with more than 50 films and numerous television serials.

He also shared screen space with his father 'Prem Nazir' in seven films starting with 'Ivan Oru Simham'.

Re-emerging after a gap, he acted in the 2011 Malayalam film China Town and later featured in prominent titles such as Chitram, Lal Americayi...
