Mexico City, July 1 -- The US government is holding 18 children from Venezuela separated from their parents and must immediately return them to their homeland, Venezuelan parliament speaker Jorge Rodriguez.
"We are here to express our outrage and demand the release of our 18 girls and boys kidnapped in the United States. They were torn from their mothers, fathers, grandfathers and grandmothers and sent to institutions where they should not be. They should be at home, in their country - Venezuela," Rodriguez said on Monday.
He stressed that many of these children were taken from their parents without court orders, which, in his opinion, violates international norms and the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
