Ranchi, Dec. 18 -- : The first phase of the Veer Birsa Munda Cyclothon, organised by the NCC Directorate Bihar and Jharkhand under NCC Group Headquarters, Ranchi, was flagged off on Thursday from three locations across Jharkhand, marking the launch of a state-wide initiative to honour the legacy of tribal freedom fighter Bhagwan Birsa Munda and promote fitness, patriotism and national integration.

The cyclothon was simultaneously flagged off from Latehar, Gumla and Torpa. At Latehar, Deputy Commissioner Utkarsh Gupta, IAS, flagged off the event, while the Gumla leg was inaugurated by Amitabh Bharti, Principal of BN Jalan College, Sisai.
