Thiruvananthapuram, April 3 -- Prof. GN Panicker has bagged the Varadevi Award instituted by Dr P C Nair Foundation for his comprehensive contribution to Malayalam literature.
Poet and lyricist K. Jayakumar will present the award at a function to be held here on April 10. The award comprises Rs. 25,000, a citation and a sculpture.
Panicker, who was noted as a story writer, novelist, critic and teacher, won the Kerala Sahitya Academy Award for his collection of stories Neerurakalude Geetham in 1982.
His major works include Nammudeyum Avarudeyum, Ormakalude Turuthil Ninn, Manase Nee Sakshi, Kariveppila, Etho Chila Swapnangalil, Ini Yatra Paranjidatte, Oru Divasam Oru Yugam.
