Thiruvananthapuram, Dec. 24 -- A Kasaragod-Thiruvananthapuram Vande Bharat Express train collided with an autorickshaw near Akathumuri railway station in Varkala on Tuesday night at around 10.30 pm, triggering panic in the area and briefly affecting train movement.

Sources said the autorickshaw reportedly entered the railway track from the station premises while the high-speed train was approaching. The driver of the autorickshaw managed to jump out of the vehicle moments before the collision.

The impact of the collision caused the autorickshaw to be dragged along the track, prompting railway authorities to halt train services briefly at the station.
