Srinagar, Aug. 7 -- A day after banning 25 books authored by acclaimed national and international writers, including Arundhati Roy and AG Noorani, for allegedly fostering secessionism among the youth, the J&K police today conducted searches across the valley to seize copies of the "forfeited" literature.

J&K Police today conducted searches in Srinagar, Anantnag, Ganderbal, Kulgam, Awantipora among several places.

A notification issued by the Principal Secretary of the Home Department, Chandraker Bharti, by order of Lieutenant-Governor Manoj Sinha, said 25 books were "found to excite secessionism and endangering the sovereignty and integrity of India", and thereby, attracted the provisions of Sections 152, 196 & 197 of Bhartiya Nyaya Sanh...
