Jammu, Sept. 18 -- The pilgrimage to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi resumed this morning after a night-long halt from Katra town in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Resumed yesterday after 22 days, the yatra was suspended in the evening in view of bad weather. "After a night-long halt, the yatra resumed today," said an official. He said that by 10 am, around 1,100 pilgrims had registered.

He said yesterday, 2,500 registered pilgrims left the base camp Katra for the Bhawan nestled in the Trikuta Hills. However, amid the chants of "Jai Mata Di", the suspended pilgrimage resumed yesterday.

Suspended on August 26 due to heavy rain, the yatra earlier was scheduled to begin on September 14, but was postponed again.
