Chandigarh, April 7 -- A total of 1,763 Sikh pilgrims are set to depart for Pakistan on April 10 to celebrate Khalsa Sajna Diwas (Vaisakhi) at various historic gurdwaras, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) said on Tuesday.

Providing details, SGPC Secretary Balwinder Singh Kahlwan stated that the apex gurdwara body had submitted 1,795 passports to the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi for visa processing. Out of these, visas were granted to 1,763 pilgrims, while 32 applicants were denied visas by the embassy.

Kahlwan informed that the 'Jatha' (contingent) will depart from the SGPC headquarters in Amritsar on April 10 amid the chanting of 'Jaikaras'. The pilgrims will attend the main congregation of Vaisakhi at Gurdwara Sri ...
