Thiruvananthapuram, Sept. 1 -- Former union minister and BJP leader V. Muraleedharan today criticised the Kerala government for celebrating the proposed Wayanad tunnel project, questioning whether the recent Mundakkai tragedy had already been forgotten.

Calling the tunnel "environmentally damaging and impractical", he pointed out that the Centre had granted approval for the project with 60 strict conditions.

"Those spending lakhs on publicity should first read the Centre's reply," he remarked.

Accusing Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan of seeking electoral gains through the project, Muraleedharan alleged that all sectors in the state had suffered setbacks under the present government.
