Forde, Oct. 11 -- Uzbekistan's Akbar Djuraev produced a record breaking performance to dominate the men's 110 kg category at the IWF World Championships, setting two new world records.
The Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion broke the snatch world record with a lift of 196 kg on his third attempt before improving his total world record with a combined lift of 428 kg (196 kg snatch plus 232 kg clean and jerk) to seal the gold medal yesterday.
Iran's Alireza Nasiri claimed two silver medals, lifting 231 kg in clean and jerk and finishing with a total of 415 kg, while Uzbekistan's Ruslan Nurudinov, the 2016 Olympic champion, bagged three bronze medals with lifts of 186 kg in snatch, 228 kg in clean and jerk and 414 kg overall.
