Nainital, June 23 -- The body of an Army jawan who drowned in a river in Udham Singh Nagar district of Uttarakhand was recovered by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Himanshu Mishra, a resident of Bengaluru (Karnataka), who was serving in the Army Supply Corps and was currently posted in Haldwani.
The SDRF was informed by the Circle Officer of Bazpur on Sunday about a person drowning in the river in Gularbhoj.
A team led by Sub-Inspector Surendra Singh from Rudrapur reached the spot and conducted a search operation till late night, but couldn't locate the body due to darkness and fast currents.
The search operation resumed on Monday morning, and the body was finally recovered.
