Deoria, Sept. 16 -- Usman Gani, owner of SS Mall and Easy Mart located near Ramleela Maidan in Deoria city, was arrested by Deoria police from beneath the Kamta Overbridge in Lucknow's Chinhat police station area.
He was later brought back to Deoria Kotwali. During police interrogation yesterday, Gani reportedly confessed to his involvement in forced religious conversion and other related crimes.
The arrest was made following a complaint filed by a young woman, a resident of the Madanpur police station area, who previously worked at SS Mall. Based on her written statement, Deoria police registered a case against Usman Gani, his wife Tarannum Jahan, and his brother-in-law Gauhar Ali under the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversio...
