Use Kannada or face action, Karnataka warns officials
Bengaluru, June 26 -- In a decisive move to reinforce the use of Kannada in government administration, the Karnataka government has issued a circular mandating that all official correspondence and files not written in Kannada be returned, and the concerned officers be asked to provide an explanation.
The directive, issued by Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh on Thursday, comes in the wake of repeated reports from the Kannada Development Authority (KDA) highlighting widespread non-compliance with earlier instructions mandating the use of Kannada in official matters.
