Washington/New Delhi, May 10 -- Amid heightened escalation between New Delhi and Islamabad, and with Pakistan moving its troops to forward positions, the US today urged both sides to de-escalate and communicate with each other to "avoid miscalculation".
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and with Pakistani Deputy PM and FM Ishaq Dar, to convey the message.
In his call to EAM Jaishankar, "Rubio emphasised that both sides need to identify methods to de-escalate and re-establish direct communication to avoid miscalculation.
"He further proposed US support in facilitating productive discussions to avert future disputes," US State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce said.
