Washington, Dec. 10 -- As part of its ongoing bid to clamp down on illegal immigration, all foreign nationals entering the US may soon be required to undergo mandatory social media screening and expanded biometric screenings by federal authorities, as the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) seeks to overhaul its existing mechanisms to more effectively verify the identities of all those entering the country.

Under the proposal, all travellers, regardless of whether they need a visa, will be required to submit their social media account details within the last five years.
